Road to Makalali Wildlife Reserve

Kristie's Camp-the lodge building. This was our main hangout place for eating meals and uploading photos. Electric power by generator only for a few hours each afternoon.

Tent chalet--canvas with a thatched roof built on a wooden foundation. Very nice tents but always had to be wary of varmits like spiders or scorpions. A couple of our group had bats in their tent, but I had only a giant jumping spider, hairy with giant bug eyes.

Flaky thorn tree, common thorny plant in the bush. It seemed like 70% of the bushes had thorns.

Cheetah. Fastest land animal in the world. Very sleek and reminds me of a greyhound.

Lioness. A lion seems to stare right through you. Sometimes a little disarming.
