Road to Makalali Wildlife Reserve

Kristie's Camp-the lodge building. This was our main hangout place for eating meals and uploading photos. Electric power by generator only for a few hours each afternoon.

Tent chalet--canvas with a thatched roof built on a wooden foundation. Very nice tents but always had to be wary of varmits like spiders or scorpions. A couple of our group had bats in their tent, but I had only a giant jumping spider, hairy with giant bug eyes.

Cheetah. Fastest land animal in the world. Very sleek and reminds me of a greyhound.

Lioness. A lion seems to stare right through you. Sometimes a little disarming.

Bull elephant, after a mud/water bath. Thought he would get into the Range Rover with us or spray us with mud and water. Thankfully he did neither.

He was very curious about us and at times was too close to photograph.
